Junction City/Harrisburg/Monroe Habitat for Humanity works to eliminate sub-standard housing by assisting low-income homeowners, including veterans, seniors, and disabled homeowners with critical home repairs. Our Critical Home Repair Program's objectives are to provide roofing, roofing repairs, and external ADA (Americans with Disabilities) accessibility projects. Typical projects include roof replacements, accessibility ramps, porches, railings, and painting.
To qualify for home repair, both the property and applicant must meet all of the following criteria.
Eligibility of Property:
Residency: The home must be an owner-occupied, single-family house, and the primary residence of the owner for at least one year. Mobile home repairs are limited to $3,000 and under.
Location: The home must be located within the school district boundaries of Junction City, Harrisburg, or Monroe, Oregon.
Repairs Needed: Projects must be limited to exterior repairs and the housing must be inadequate in health, safety, or accessibility.
Eligibility of Applicant:
Income: The household’s gross income must fall within the current year Income Guidelines. Income from all household members 18 and over will be considered. Income is adjusted for household size. Click here for the Income Guidelines.
Ability to Pay: Homeowners will be required to sign a promissory note for balance of payment not paid before the project is completed. There will be a lien assigned to the property for repairs over $3,000. Participants must demonstrate a willingness and ability to pay for the project, based on an ability to make affordable payments. Homeowner must be current on all property taxes. Homeowner must be current on all mortgage payments without being at risk of bankruptcy or foreclosure.
Willingness to Partner: We work together as partners with families who need a hand up, not a handout. You and/or members of the household must contribute at least 8 hours of sweat equity per critical home repair. Sweat equity hour opportunities are available to all ages and physical abilities.
