Qualify and Apply

Homeownership: How does the process work?

Junction City/Harrisburg/Monroe Habitat for Humanity (JCHM Habitat) is dedicated to providing safe, decent, and affordable housing in partnership with families living or working in the Junction City, Harrisburg, or Monroe school district boundaries. To date, we have built or renovated 26 homes in our area, providing affordable housing for more than 75 of our neighbors.

We accept applications during an application window at the direction of our Board of Directors. The application window is currently closed. If you wish to have information on the next opportunity to apply, please contact the office to be placed on the informational email list.

You are welcome to look at our application form (one may be found at this link or in our office) at any time. Instructions for the application can be found at this linkapplication_instructions.pdf.

After a family completes the application form, the Family Services Committee reviews it to see how well it meets Habitat's qualifications and to determine the family's level of need. When a Partner Family is selected, the family can begin working on their "sweat equity" hours.

Our criteria for homeowner selection is based on the family's need for adequate shelter, the ability to pay an affordable mortgage, and the willingness to partner with JCHM Habitat. Partner families work at least 250 "sweat equity" hours, including construction of their homes; serving in the ReStore and assisting in the office; attend homeowner and budgeting classes; and serve as the face of Habitat. Many people are involved in working with families to provide a home: volunteers, staff, our community, businesses, and other agencies. We all work together to help families in their quest to build a better future.
  • Have you lived or worked in our service area for the past six months?
  • Is your current housing unsafe, overcrowded, or unaffordable?
  • Are you willing to partner with JCHM Habitat in the homebuilding process?
  • Are you able to pay the monthly mortgage payment?
If you can answer yes to these questions and your income falls within the guidelines listed on this page, we welcome your application! We are always glad to help with the process and will answer any questions you may have along the way. Use this form to request more information or clink on the link below to download an application.
