Youth Volunteers Youth United is Habitat's New Program to involve young people in our mission to end poverty housing. Our Youth Committee is working to raise funds to cover the costs of the children's bedrooms of the homes we build. Our Youth Program is a great opportunity for students to learn about housing poverty issues and make a difference in our communities! The Youth Committee consists of Youth Leaders who want to help organize events, fundraisers and volunteer opportunities. We will also be needing adult mentors to help. For more information please contact Liz Henderson, our Youth Program Specialist at [ email ] or at 541-998-9548. News Warm the Home Art Show and Auction accepting submissions Our second annual Warm the Home Art Show and Auction is currently collecting submissions of flat art pieces 20" x 20" or smaller that reflect a theme of "Home for the Holidays" and was created by a youth ages 5-18 living within the boundaries of Junction City/Harrisburg/Monroe school districts. For more information or to get an official entry form email Liz Henderson [ email ]. Decorate for the holidays with a beautiful Holly Bouquet! Youth United is selling Beautiful Holly Bouquets for the holiday season. The bouquets are made from wonderful Oregon Holly and greens and come wrapped in tissue paper ready to give to a gracious hostess at our next holiday party or to put in the middle of your festive table before your family arrives. Bouquets are large in size and only $10 for one or 3 for $25. They can be purchased from any Youth United member, by emailing Liz Henderson at [ email ] or at one of our upcoming fundraisers (Santa's Workshop or Art Show). Youth United Wins Building the Future Award On November 5th Youth Program Specialist Liz Henderson and Youth Adviser Megan Meray accepted Youth United of Junction City/Harrisburg/Monroe's 2011 Building the Future Honorable Mention Award at the Youth Leadership Conference held in Indianapolis, Indiana. Habitat for Humanity International and State Farm Insurance awarded just three Youth United programs from around the country with awards this year and our group was honored to receive one. Building the Future awards honor Youth United programs who are going above and beyond in their work to involve youth in Habitat's mission to end poverty housing, engage youth in their communities, develop youth leaders and foster teamwork among diverse groups of youth.
